What started as a simple shade structure quickly became something much more. With the right vision and expertise, it transformed into a multi-functional outdoor retreat complete with a custom-built pavilion, a natural boulder waterslide, multiple fire and water features, and a full outdoor kitchen and bar.

Step 1:

Dream

When the Loff family approached The Site Group, their goal was clear: design an outdoor space that could evolve with their young family. They wanted a space where their kids and their friends could gather, while also serving as a retreat for entertaining family and friends.

Originally, their backyard included just a small patio with a modest firepit. It was functional at a different time in their couple’s life, but far from their dream outdoor space.

The initial plan started with a simple desire for shade. But as The Site Group design team explored possibilities, it grew into something far more exciting: a custom-designed pavilion overlooking the pool, with fire and water features, an outdoor kitchen and bar, and a unique boulder-built waterslide.

Develop

Bringing the Loff family’s dream to life meant balancing design, function and seamless integration into their property. The final design included distinct areas for relaxation, entertainment and play, all thoughtfully woven together.

The Pavilion

The detached pavilion is the centerpiece of the project, designed for three-season enjoyment with stunning elevated pool views. It features a spacious bar with seating for six, a side-positioned grill area for safety and a gas fireplace with dual TVs, creating a cozy yet open gathering space.

The open pergola roof allows for natural ventilation, eliminating the need for a vented hood in the kitchen. Crafted with Douglas fir trusses, travertine pavers and locally sourced granite fieldstone boulders, the pavilion blends rustic charm with lasting durability — a hallmark of expert Ohio landscaping company services.

The Pool and Spa

No backyard transformation is complete without a show-stopping pool and spa, and this one delivers. Several custom waterfalls enhance the space, with one flowing from the spa and another cascading from the boulder waterslide, creating a seamless blend of fire, water and stone.

The carefully placed fire bowls add warmth and ambiance, making the space inviting even after sunset. Incorporating these natural elements not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also brings a sense of balance and tranquility, transforming the backyard into a true retreat.

The hot tub, positioned closer to the house, offers a private, year-round escape, ensuring both convenience and relaxation.

The Waterslide

We carefully hand-selected boulders to give it an organic, natural look, seamlessly blending it into the landscape.
